Artist's Statement : I used both sides of two Japanese raincoats (one from my mother) to create an image of the bark which I imagined in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest), in Germany near the French border.  The light slanting down from the upper right suggests sunlight shining through the trees.

Technique : Machine piecing, Hand piecing, Hand applique, Hand quilting

Material : Indigo-dyring fabric, Kimono (silk), Obi (silk)
